Colourlovers: Love Color.

                       

I'm addicted - i recently rediscovered a modest and simple site called colourlovers. It's tools include a patternmaker, palettemaker, and color matcher.

My favorite feature is if you discover a new color, you can name it! It makes me realize just how many colors there are in the world, still many unnamed. If you swirl your mouse around on the rainbow of hex colors, you will eventually hit a color that no one has ever touched.

The Photocopa tool analyzes an image and picks out the colors that are most reoccurring, bright, etc. It brings new light to artwork such as Goldfish Goblin Master by Chen Man, which may seem extremely colorful and bright, but actually contains mostly dull and sullen colors. It is amazing how the artist combined many dull colors to produce the effect of luminescence and shine.
