My physics professor used to joke, "you should be able to explain something so clearly that your friend on the phone in Tokyo should be able to understand." Skyping with Soo Yang, founder of Simple&Kitsch, in her studies abroad was both surreal and a real-life application of that statement.![]() |

Her minimalist aesthetic influences my style very much; her current experiences in Nagoya need no words. My favorite section is, of course, food. These takoyaki (savory octopus donuts) look so exotic and scrumptious - I find it funny that they look almost like American cake-pops.

ReplyDelete/reply/ Well, this is the original website where I bought the blooming tea's: http://www.simonlevelt.nl, it's a Dutch website and they also have real stores with a lot of coffee and tea's in the Netherlands.
I bet if you looked online you can find other blooming tea's, or, if not, I could buy another one for you and sent it too you. I don't know where you are located though. Let me know if you can find it!

DeleteRock dumb that I am, I didn't quite make the connection between your words, "I'm featuring your website on mine" with actually doing so. And now, 16 days later, saw it I did.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures. I love the sprouts. Although I got a little nervous just looking at the baby sprouts. So precious life is.
With Love. With Great Thanks. From Japan.
Soo
Dear Soo,
DeleteIt's no problem at all - I know your studies in Japan keep you well occupied, and I am honored that you had time to chat with an old friend and let me feature your site. You always write so eloquently, and I love that you are always able to formulate my subconscious thoughts into words. Life is precious, like tiny seedlings and sprouts. Although their fragility and tenderness represents a hopeful spirit for the beginnings of life, the fact that they were stopped short before the peak of their lives, is sad. This balance of joyful and somber is a tension I definitely cherish.
